Why is the Academic Achievement indicator important?
The Academic Achievement indicator shows the improvement of each priority student group in the same grade from one year to the next. This indicator provides a more complete look at student performance by using two measures – achievable, challenging targets and proficiency. Looking at academic performance in this way can help reveal previously hidden gaps in student achievement. Each priority group has an academic achievement target designed to meet students where they are and help them move toward or maintain the same high expectation- proficiency. This measure of performance accounts for 14/15th of the indicator score.
